We have compiled a list of the TOP50 questions that we hear on our
workshops. From gear, to settings, to composition, and shooting styles, we have
decided to post three questions and answers a week till we get through them
all.
We hope they answer some of the questions that you may have. Here is
todays question.
Question: How do I store my
camera and lenses when I am at home?
Answer: There are a variety
of ways to consider storing your camera gear while at home. But before you
decide, consider three important reasons to store your camera gear. 1) Dust and
particles. Keep your gear out of open air to eliminate dust and particles
collecting on the camera, lenses and accessories. 2) Safety. They should be
safe from damage. 3) Watch you do not store them in damp locations to avoid the
presence of mold starting on the grease in your internal moving parts.
So, keeping in mind where you live and which of the above three you
need to concern with the most, here is the advice I give.
You can store your camera gear in backpacks and roller bags and place
them in a safe place. This can ensure your gear is ready to go at a moment’s
notice and already packed for your next photo shoot.
Or you can buy a storage cabinet. IKEA is an inexpensive option. They
sell workspace storage units that are inexpensive and will fit into most
spaces. You can check out those units here. http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/categories/departments/workspaces/10711/
